I can normally tell ivory from bone but this item has got me beaten. It feels like ivory and on the whole looks like ivory but there are a few grain marks like the ones found on bone, so I’m afraid the jury is out on this one.
What ever it was made of it is a lovely example. there is a faint name written on the base which I think says Teresa.
I wonderful antique item to keep your sewing needles safe in.
measures 9cms long and in excellent condition with a screw top.
