Embroidery
19th century crewel work flower roundels.

Ref:222835

I bought two bedspreads that were beyond repair. Both had floral patterns worked in the traditional English embroidery technique of crewelwork. It must have taken months if not years to complete these bed covers. It was such a shame that over the years they had not been looked after.

I decided that that there were enough roundels to justify recycling. So I have cut out a variety of flowers, both large and small.

I tested out how these roundels could be used by incorporating them into my felt work. I carefully cut up close to the wool chain stitches and attached them to my felted cushion centre by use of blanket stitch. The last photograph shows how good they look.

There are a number of different flowers so please check the reference numbers before ordering.
